Not since "There's something about Mary" have I laughed so hard in a movie theater! I got into one of the preview screenings of this last week in LA and I have to say 90% of the audience was laughing unbiased as loud as me. Let the prudes discontinue home - this is a film for anyone who wants to laugh till it hurts!

If you are a bah-humbug individual, a Billy Bob Thornton fan, and/or have an appreciation for sunless comedy....THIS is the Christmas film for you! Oh, yes, it requires an start mind and the ability to indulge in the original, but finally here is a holiday film for those who like their seasonal entertainment with a diminutive less 'sugar and spice'.

First, do not prefer your 11 year aged to discover this film, as did the gentleman sitting slow me in the theater. He elected to remain even though I advised him this was an adult film (seems the R-Rating didn't seem to do the trick) . I stressed that was probably not trustworthy for his son - even if my reply to his inquiry: "Well, it's about Santa Claus isn't it? " was "YES". Because the entire respond was: "YES, but a very, very baaad Santa".

After the movie, the viewer told me that I was true, that he should have left, and that he had in fact started to leave several times during the film, but didn't. He added that he himself did not like the film. This made be all the more moving as to exactly why he elected to glimpse until the credits were rolling.

All the other movie patrons must have checked the ratings (as they were all adults), read the reviews, watched the promos, and perhaps caught Billy Bob on every talk prove on TV the previous week (where he spent an inordinate amount of time telling the public - 'This is NOT a family film') . They also must have enjoyed the film, because they all laughed, actually, they all laughed a lot.

Being an avid, devoted fan of Thornton, I understand and would be first to admit that I am more than a miniature biased when it comes to Billy Bob. I reflect he is incapable of making a film that is not lively. That being said, I would have enjoyed 'Bad Santa' if Santa had been portrayed by some other actor (except perhaps Jim Carey, but I digress) . However, I don't know any other actor who bring the pathos, the heart, the lewdness, the earthiness, the seediness, and the overall tall performance to this film that Billy Bob did.

Billy Bob Thornton continues to peruse the depths of his talent and lift fans along for the slither by always finding novel and fresh characters to relate. Generally he does this via the 'independent' film intention, because indie films provide the greater opportunities for his substantial creativity.

This time his choice was not a 'new' character, rather actually a very, very recognizable character - recognizable at least by name - Santa, and this time in a film by commercial film makers. That is where our acquaintance with the character of Santa ends. Willie Stokes' Santa may resemble a lot of characters that we know really exist, as opposed to ragged Kris Kringle. We know this because many of us have met unprejudiced such confused people in our exact lives, though usually not wearing red velvet suits. The individuals we knew were known to us in the guise of losers, con men, hard-drinkers, and otherwise less-than-perfect people who are fair a itsy-bitsy bit mixed up about who they are, where they are going, and exactly how to gain there.

The only contrast I would have with many of the reviewing film critics about this film is their insistence that "Poor Santa' does not have a 'good hearted' ending. I would beg to differ. While I won't give it away, I would content you it has what might be considered an ending that is totally 'appropriate' for a holiday film such as 'Bad Santa'. It isn't an 'It's A Astounding Life' ending, but then again the film isn't 'Miracle on 34th Street'. But we already know that because the title reveals it from the git-go. I may be a bit of a softie when it comes to kids, but I must boom you some of the tears in my eyes at various moments in 'Bad Santa' were not tears of laughter.

Speaking of kids, Brett Kelly, the young actor who plays 'the kid' in "Abominable Santa" is priceless in this film and perfectly cast. Brett is the Coronji Calhoun (Tyrell Musgrove - Monsters Ball) of this film. Thornton is fine in acting in films with children, this film being no exception.

John Ritter, like Billy Bob, has played a variety of characters in a myriad of films during his career and is always 'absolutely on the mark' for the personality of each character. Rather than being 'sorry' for Ritter that his last film was 'Bad Santa'; I gain that making this film with his mature friend (from 'Hearts Afire', the 80's TV series) Billy Bob Thornton, in their first film together since 'Sling Blade', was probably a ample source of fun and pleasure for Ritter. I am personally very jubilant that he and Billy Bob had the opportunity to co-star one last time before John's untimely death. While his on-screen time seemed short on this film, John Ritter, as usual, did an obliging job and was very humorous, as was always his device.

Open your mind, prepare for laughter, and give yourself the gift of a different kind of holiday cheer this year - go sight 'Bad Santa'. If what you want for Christmas is a miniature wreck from the often untrue cheerfulness of the outmoded and instead a swig of sad humor for the delight of your soul, 'Bad Santa' can definitely gain all your wishes arrive proper - whether you have been dreadful or splendid.

Recently, I purchased a copy of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's rendition of the Divine Comedy, with drawings by Doré, and idea it was time to eye into more background for this landmark work of literature. I already had John Ciardi's more fresh translation of the Inferno, with endnotes, which is a very useful tool for studying Dante. But more worthy mild is the background material provided here, along with a video presentation of some of the greatest Dante-related masterpieces ever painted, including as you'd guess, works by Hieronymus Bosch. The scholars' comments on this disc are arresting and insightful, and the paintings well documented. My only complaint being; the enactment of the action described in the book is somewhat disposable, although forgivably brief. I have seen the first allotment of the TV Dante, prepared for the BBC, no longer available, and never released on DVD, and that was very racy and hideous. I withhold holding out hope someone will gaze fit to release that series as a status, and for either a reissue of the obscure movie, or perhaps a completely original version. A modernized re-telling of the tale, with characters from our would, although problematic, would be welcome*. In the meantime, this documentary is an inspiring and reasonably scholarly addition to the video library of anyone committed to a serious peer of classic literature.

*Someone finally did this. See: Dante's Inferno ~ James Cromwell, John Fleck, Dermot Mulroney, and Martha Plimpton (DVD - 2008) . It's worth the capture heed objective for the opinion alone. The animation style is unusual, but it more-or-less sticks to the current thought, in that Dante and Virgil are serene going through Hell to procure to Purgatory, and the punishments they encounter along the arrangement are oddly appropriate. It's a cramped more adult oriented, and done with a amusing slant, but it collected feels like Dante, and that's what's famous.

The documentary is worth watching for the pictures and some keeping the storyline in order. However I assume it was an accident as they had no concept when they made this documentary on how to compose a documentary. If Dante had not been meticulous in his order of things this presentation would have been complete chaos.

We have several people that never talked to each other with completely different concepts of Dante. This would not be so ban in its self but the thread hold jumping from one quasi-authority to another. Most of the time they were talking about separate levels of heaven and hell; so you went up and down like a yo-yo. My well-liked piece is when one authority said that Dante never went to university and the next interviewed authority showed the university that his father paid his contrivance through.

The culprits - Professor Zygmont, Dr. Catherine Fervent of St John's College, Cambridge, Dr. Simon Gilson of Warwick University, Dr. Robin Kirkpatrick of Robinson College, Cambridge, plus author and leading Dante authority Dr. Anna Lawrence.

The Graduate is a tall film and I grow to like it more with each viewing. Everything is nearly perfect about it. The script, Mike Nichols' direction, the performances of Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katherine Ross, the music of Simon and Garfunkel. It's humorous yet dramatic, captivating and profound all at the same time. A very exquisite film all around. Dustin Hoffman has rarely been better than in The Graduate, although he has certainly given many other radiant performances (Midnight Cowboy, Rain Man, Kramer Vs. Kramer) . However, even more than those pictures, Hoffman will always be remembered for The Graduate and his portrayal of an awkward young man trying to earn a possess on his life.

Also worth noting in particular is the direction of Mike Nichols. He truly gives the film a recent visual style to fabricate it an experience rather than unprejudiced a comedy/drama. Effect the opening credits with Hoffman on an airport tantalizing sidewalk position to the tune of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence". Nichols' uses cuts very interestingly in several scenes such as the scene where Benjamin jumps up on his raft in the pool, and lands in bed with Mrs. Robinson. He also uses zooms to expansive achieve throughout the film. Nichols' Best Director Oscar for this film was well-deserved. I judge that Hoffman's performance should have won also, as well as the screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry.

One other thing that I must mention is that The Graduate absolutely must been seen in its modern aspect ratio! If you're not watching a widescreen version, then you're not watching The Graduate. The film was shot in the Panavision process with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Mike Nichols makes unbelievable consume of the 2.35:1 frame, so the film will be absolutely botched in pan and scan. If you survey The Graduate in full-screen pan and scan, you're really, really missing out. The visual impact of the film will be irreparably damaged.

The DVD is adequate, but this film deserves remarkable better. The disc is labeled a special edition, but it's really too skimpy to be that. At very least you're getting a widescreen version of the film. However, the transfer is not enhanced for 16:9 televisions. What we need is a fully remastered 16:9 transfer which would be immensely helpful. The narrate quality is handsome, but could be so remarkable better. It's really attractive what incompatibility a stamp modern remastered 16:9 transfer can accomplish for an older film like this. Unprejudiced peep at the unusual DVD of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. The film also deserves better supplemental materials. A better documentary and a commentary by the filmmakers would be large. A seperate commentary by Dustin Hoffman would be even better. I'm convinced that someday The Graduate will receive a beneficial DVD edition, and I will wait until then to retract it.

Looks like MGM finally is giving "The Graduate" a grownup DVD.

Here comes "The Graduate: 40th Anniversary Edition," due Sept. 11. Fox's specs expose 2.35:1 widescreen with DTS and Dolby Surround. This appears to be in right widescreen. (The previous DVDs' version apparently was created by throwing letterboxing atop the full-screen version. Seems the guy who was so ample on plastics got into the home video business.)

I have seen all the Peanuts movies, and this is the Peanuts movie that really makes me roar no matter how many years I have been watching it for (since around 1979 or so, when I was 5 or 6) . It deals with the fact that Snoopy has gotten a letter from his mature owner, a microscopic girl named Lila. She is sick in the hospital and asks him to arrive search for her (how did she acquire Charlie's addresss? Maybe the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm kept the Brown's address, and she asked them for it) . He goes to peruse her, and then comes encourage. He then tells the rest of the gang (by typing out that he is leaving some of his worldly possessions to them, since he can't grunt) that he must return to her. Here's where the dismal fraction comes in--the going away party, and one of the saddest songs you'll ever hear in your whole life. It really hit me hard because my best friend at the time had moved away, and it always makes me assume of that. This movie to me deals with losing a best friend, and then them coming succor to you, which is what happened with me in valid life. Also, you earn to learn the yarn of how Charlie Brown got Snoopy in the first site (an incident on a playground resulted in Charlie's parents going to the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm and picking out Snoopy a their dog) . But, as with all the Peanuts movies, there is a jubilant ending...I judge that you could figure out what it is, because even I'm tickled in the ruin after crying my eyes out :)!

I don't even remember seeing this one when I was growing up, but I archaic to have it on videotape for my oldest daughter. I recently got it on dvd and my youngest daughter was mesmerized (her first intro to Peanuts), my older daughter was thrilled to behold it again, and even my husband stopped what he was doing and stood in the doorway for a bit before reluctantly sitting down to look the rest.

Vince Guaraldi's music is absent here-- all the songs are written by Richard Sherman and Robert Sherman. As I remember finding fault in this while watching it on videotape years ago, I was completely ecstatic with the music now. Vince Guaraldi's jazzy piano might be more fun, but the Sherman tunes were truly enjoyable.

Most of these shows have a lot to offer, but to me two really stand out. First, the John Cleese reveal is hilarious. In its Pigs in Situation skit, the Monty Python star chews up the scenery as pirate Long John Silversteen. "A pirate don't consume an intercom!" Cleese scarls when a Muppet suggests a novel method to communicate. "'Twould be sissy!" The Nureyev episode, on the other hand, is a precise oddity. After the ballet star sings "Putting On My Top Hat," he shoots down his chorus line with a machine gun. Later, he dances to "Swan Lake" with a human-size pig.

Bonus features include "The Muppets Valentine Day Special," a 1974 television pilot which aired more than two years before "The Muppet Note" debuted. Kermit the Frog and actress Mia Farrow star, but the host is Wally, a Henson character who would rarely be seen again. Also included is "The Muppets on The Muppets," (a 13-minute series of tongue-in-cheek interviews) and the 2002 music video "Withhold Fishin'" by Weezer.

Also worth mentioning is the packaging. The menus on each disc are hosted (Fozzie Have and Kermit chat with you on Discs 1 and 3; Animal and Rizzo handle Discs 2 and 4) and the episodes themselves have (unidentified) chapter stops. In addition, the box itself is more than unprejudiced cardboard, at least in this initial printing. On the front, Miss Piggy's face is fuzzy, and her blue eyes sparkle.

Problems? Objective one: the closed captioning doesn't include any song lyrics!
Two years of painful waiting has finally produced Season 2 of "The Muppet Reveal" on DVD. Compiliation of season one was apparently fraught with copyright squabbles, resulting in some missed segments and shows of varied length. Happily, all shows on this residence hasten to approximately the same length and point to no signs of slicing and dicing. And that's salubrious, because The Muppets became stars (well, quasi-stars, they were puppets) during this season and were able to attract bigger names. In incompatibility to season one, anyone alive in 1977-78 would search for 95% of the names listed on the box: Elton John, Bob Hope, George Burns, Julie Andrews, Steve Martin, Peter Sellers, Petula Clark, and on and on. Anyone who wasn't there will probably wonder how a bunch of esteem talking oven mitts ever caught on with the public. Those who were there know why. Season 2 solidified the cast: Kermit as undisputed front runner (he plays marginal roles in the pilots), Miss Piggy as the pig infused with unrequited adore, Fozzy as the cheesy comedian, Statler and Waldorf as the curmudgeon critics, Gonzo as the frustrated artist. The indefatigable "Pigs in Situation" also made its debut. Season two ends up being worth the wait. It even has a fuzzy shroud.

The show's formula remained vaudevillian with songs, skits, and stars. Ghosts of the Marx Brothers loom in the background. Puns and slapstick abound. Even international artistic sensations such as Rudolph Nureyev topple all pretensions. Nureyev dances with a vast pig. He sings, dressed only in a towel, "Baby, it's wintry outside" with an inflamed Miss Piggy. She tries to abscond with the towel. The guy definitely had a sense of humor. When Steve Martin appeared, the display was canceled. Instead they held auditions for recent acts. Martin plays his illustrious "wild and crazy guy" (sans obscenities) to its hammy limits. He has to compete with the lustrous "ribbit" song duet, who do spicy renditions of "Dilapidated Man Ribbit" and "Device Down Upon the Swami Ribbit." A hard act to beat, for certain. Elton John fits just in with chickens in leather, titanic feathery creatures and singing crocodiles providing accompaniment. Judy Collins does an astonishing rendition of "There was an Dilapidated Woman who Swallowed a Glide." Julie Andrews, smooth in robust remark, reprises her Sound of Music days with Muppetry. Peter Sellers delivers the usual hilarious and disturbing performance. He squawks to Kermit "There is no me I do not exist. There obsolete to be a me but I had it surgically removed." And of course John Cleese steals the entire display. Even Muppets can't compete.

Season one included the show's pilot, and this spot includes a sort of a pilot. In 1974 "The Muppets Valentine Special" aired with guest Mia Farrow. It was a test hurry. The formula wasn't exactly perfected yet, though an it presents an enchanting peek at the formation of the Muppets. Ernie and Bert even appear. But don't blink. This experiment remains a far wail from the hit point to that debuted a few years later. By 1981 the Muppets were so immense that Jim Henson pulled the TV explain for larger bait, namely more movies. But in the leisurely 1970s the Muppets reigned on television. Season 2 showcases their imminent rise and shows once and for all that there was entertainment before CG.

As a fan of Anime for almost 5 years, I like to contemplate of myself as having very refined tastes - when I first saw this DVD on the rack at Best Take, I belief to myself "Well, this looks like a Do or Die present - either a atomize hit, or a total flop. I was intrigued enough to purchase both Volume 1 and Volume 2 at the same time, and I watched both that same night.

I really have to say, after the first volume, I was having pain breathing because I was laughing so hard and so many times. But the Second Volume was absolutely intellectual - I have NEVER laughed so hard in my young life - not even at my current Marx Brothers film, or my celebrated episode of Family Guy. This present is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. It blends together that unreal comedy that can only arrive from Japan along with wacky action, improbable characters, and gigantic epic development.

The episode 4 title "Single-Minded Stakeout" is an episode for the ages. It bears the typical resemblance to any romantic comedy, with the episode in which a jealous character follows his/her counterpart on a date with an dilapidated boyfriend/girlfriend, only to be forced to interrupt and attach the day - revealing to the counterpart that the jealous character really has feelings for them - as has been seen in other Romantic Comedies (most notably: "Please Teacher" and "Esteem Hina") . But with the surprise introduction of "Bonta-kun" (the cuddly absorb whose seemingly Pokemon-esque dialogue of "Fumoffu!" is applied as the show's title), the episode takes a amazing plod down a heart-warming lunge of young cherish and die-hard laughter.

As most Anime stalls while trying to carry on it's site with filler episodes, "Fleshy Metal Awe? : Fumoffu" keeps the laughs coming with unexpected surprises - a quality investment and a staunch gem to have in a Collection. If you adore Romantic Comedies such as "Oh My Goddess!", "Treasure Hina", or "Please Teacher", you'll "anxiety" to engage more of these titanic DVDs - unbiased like me.
Let me prefix this by saying that, yes, I know the DVD isn't due out for about a month; however, I have seen the tell of this DVD (in the novel airing) and therefore feel that I am obedient to review it.


In this dwelling, Chidori finally (although indirectly) admits her feelings for Souske out loud (but not to him... of course :_[ ), and without speaking we finally leer Souske beginning to admit to himself that he likes Chidori. This will most likely be the highlight of the DVD (for me anyway) .


A molestor terrorizes the town and it's up to Souske and Chidori to end him... sort of... And after that, another tender moment for our audacious pseudo-couple as they visit a apprehensive hospital (in an peril to panic Souske) .

Next (and most likely last on this DVD, since there are 12 total episodes [counting as sets of opening and endings, not the true episodes themselves], so 3 for each DVD) we have the entry of a martial arts master that is gunning for Chidori... could this mean some competition?




Now, for the right review of this DVD.

Once again the art lives up to the standards region by the previous series and the previous DVD.

As a fan of Anime for almost 5 years, I like to contemplate of myself as having very refined tastes - when I first saw this DVD on the rack at Best Take, I belief to myself "Well, this looks like a Do or Die present - either a atomize hit, or a total flop. I was intrigued enough to purchase both Volume 1 and Volume 2 at the same time, and I watched both that same night.

I really have to say, after the first volume, I was having pain breathing because I was laughing so hard and so many times. But the Second Volume was absolutely intellectual - I have NEVER laughed so hard in my young life - not even at my current Marx Brothers film, or my celebrated episode of Family Guy. This present is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. It blends together that unreal comedy that can only arrive from Japan along with wacky action, improbable characters, and gigantic epic development.

The episode 4 title "Single-Minded Stakeout" is an episode for the ages. It bears the typical resemblance to any romantic comedy, with the episode in which a jealous character follows his/her counterpart on a date with an dilapidated boyfriend/girlfriend, only to be forced to interrupt and attach the day - revealing to the counterpart that the jealous character really has feelings for them - as has been seen in other Romantic Comedies (most notably: "Please Teacher" and "Esteem Hina") . But with the surprise introduction of "Bonta-kun" (the cuddly absorb whose seemingly Pokemon-esque dialogue of "Fumoffu!" is applied as the show's title), the episode takes a amazing plod down a heart-warming lunge of young cherish and die-hard laughter.

As most Anime stalls while trying to carry on it's site with filler episodes, "Fleshy Metal Awe? : Fumoffu" keeps the laughs coming with unexpected surprises - a quality investment and a staunch gem to have in a Collection. If you adore Romantic Comedies such as "Oh My Goddess!", "Treasure Hina", or "Please Teacher", you'll "anxiety" to engage more of these titanic DVDs - unbiased like me.
Let me prefix this by saying that, yes, I know the DVD isn't due out for about a month; however, I have seen the tell of this DVD (in the novel airing) and therefore feel that I am obedient to review it.


In this dwelling, Chidori finally (although indirectly) admits her feelings for Souske out loud (but not to him... of course :_[ ), and without speaking we finally leer Souske beginning to admit to himself that he likes Chidori. This will most likely be the highlight of the DVD (for me anyway) .


A molestor terrorizes the town and it's up to Souske and Chidori to end him... sort of... And after that, another tender moment for our audacious pseudo-couple as they visit a apprehensive hospital (in an peril to panic Souske) .

Next (and most likely last on this DVD, since there are 12 total episodes [counting as sets of opening and endings, not the true episodes themselves], so 3 for each DVD) we have the entry of a martial arts master that is gunning for Chidori... could this mean some competition?




Now, for the right review of this DVD.

Once again the art lives up to the standards region by the previous series and the previous DVD.

I've seen this film several times, and bag it great, fine inviting and confusing, all at the same time. It must be experienced to be appreciated fully.

As the previous reviewer illustrious, the information provided by amazon is woefully incorrect and riddled with errors. More of it is snide than is upright. The film is residence in the medieval Carpathians (NOT during the 19th century) . It is in Ukrainian. And it has nothing to do with "harsh realities of Russian regional history"--the Carpathian state was not a piece of the Russian empire until AFTER WWII, and it neither is nor ever was ethnically Russian.

If you want true information about his film, I suggest you try imdb or Wikipedia instead.

The fantasy anime "Moribito: Guardian of The Spirit" is based on the original by Nahoko Uehashi. Although I did not read the unique Japanese version of the book, nor did I peep the series in Japanese as Karen Weiss did, I have been following it since it's TV debut here in the USA on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim (currently playing as share of the Saturday Night lineup, although it airs at 5:30am on Sunday mornings as of the date of this writing on October 27, 2008) . I must say that so far, I agree with everything Karen wrote.

This is a truly spectacular fragment of artwork that will feed your soul. The epic (written and directed by Kenji Kamiyama) takes situation in an unspecified country at a time when the Emperor was idea of as a God to his people, and so HONOR for the Imperial throne is paramount. The Emperor must do whatever it takes to protect his people and avoid any appearance of being connected with imperfect.

The narrative opens with the land in a period of drought, and the Emperor and his court of Star Readers are working feverishly to procure a design to waste the drought before it gets any worse and people launch to starve. And we learn that an Emperor is allowed to have multiple wives to be distinct he can continue the family lineage. Each Empress and family, however, are housed in separate palaces of their contain. The second Empress, in the second palace, has two sons, Crown Prince Zaku and Crown Prince Chagum. Prince Chagum is the younger one, and he has been having unpleasant nightmares. The Star Readers attribute Prince Chagum's nightmares to an Inferior Water Demon possessing him.

Having a member of his royal family possessed by a Water Demon would bring shame on the Emperor. And more importantly, a Water Demon would certainly be the cause of the drought. And this was completely unacceptable in these times. But they could not honest "destroy" a Crown Prince, or people might ask questions and learn of the Water Demon.

And so the storyline goes like this: To sustain his honor intact and to destroy the drought, the Emperor orders that his son (Crown Prince Chagum) be killed in an "accident" so no one would learn of the Water Demon remark. But after a few close-call accidents, the last of which an outsider from another land, Balsa the Spear wielding Bodyguard (our heroin), saves Prince Chagum. And it is at this point that Prince Chagum's mother, gleaming that her son is marked for death by his believe father, calls upon this outsider from their land who has already saved her son once. After determining Balsa is not honest a bodyguard out to execute money but a women of factual honor, the Empress asks Balsa to purchase Prince Chagum and protect him for the rest of his life. They spot a fire in the Prince's bed chamber to throw off suspicion.

But with no body, the fire doesn't fool anybody and the Emperor's court learns of the existence of the female spear wielding bodyguard and they suspect she has taken off with the Prince. A mosey and some bloody battles ensue where we survey Balsa's suitable nature, meet many of her friends and ally's, and learn more about the other characters that surrounded the Prince, the court and Balsa. With support, Balsa intends on helping Prince Chagum rid himself of the demon, but I won't recount you more or I would spoil the anecdote.

The characters are well developed and the direct acting is very genuine. The music is upbeat (the opening theme is "SHINE", sung by L'Arc-en-Ciel, and this one is completely in English for the American audience) and the landscapes and scenery are breathtaking to gaze. This is a grand narrative, and it is really nice change to recognize an anime where a woman is the strongest character of the series.


I am looking forward to the complete DVD release here in America with expansive anticipation, as this is another one I want to add to my diverse collection.

Gorgeous artwork, astonishing music, and well-rounded characters--"Serei no Moribito" is a delight from commence to triumphant carry out. After having watched this series during its initial broadcast hasten on Japanese TV, I can honestly say that this is the most dazzling, well-characterized, well-written, and emotionally satisfying anime series I've ever seen. I'm eagerly awaiting the North American release on DVD, so I can add this one to my "keeper shelf."

I do agree with all of the Holiday issues-it should be released on a separate disc, and that is why this position is not rated 5 stars. However, the movies in the residence are all Big. They are some of the best of Cary Grant and all of the other reviewers seem to completely ignore that. If you don't have two or three of the movies aside from Holiday, I would highly suggest this set-it is most certainly worth it. For those who already bear three of the four previously released, I would consider about how remarkable I really loved Holiday before buying this.

It has a gargantuan supporting cast-Thomas Mitchell, Richard Barthelmess, a young and glorious Rita Hayworth-and thrilling suspense. A stout movie.

It is touching and humorous, with tender and sweet moments, and more of a worship record than the others in this area. It's a large Novel Year's Eve movie, with Cary's Johnny Case engaged to Kate's murky sheep millionaire heiress, and family drama abounds. One of the many Hepburn movies directed by George Cukor.

The Bad Truth (1937) -A gargantuan balance of equal parts romance and comedy, starring Irene Dunne (in an Oscar-nominated performance) as the Cary's almost-divorced wife, and they are both planning to remarry, although their crazy screwball antics may extinguish up ruining both of their plans. Nominated for Best Relate Oscar and winner of Best Director for Leo McCarey (also nominated for Screenplay and Supporting Actor for Ralph Bellamy as Irene's unique appreciate interest), this is one of the best screwball comedies of all.

The Talk of the Town (1942) -This is the only one of the plot that I haven't seen-I'm a newbie Grant lover, and I opinion to gape the one I got in the dwelling, but I'm positive it's unbelievable as well. It has a tremendous director-George Stevens, Jean Arthur again, who is really very droll and underrated, also Ronald Colman starring as a law professor in line for the Supreme Court. It was nominated for 7 Oscars, including Narrate, Current Record, and Screenplay, and the basic area is that Grant has recently escaped from prison and is staying with Jean Arthur, while Colman is already a guest. Supposed to be very silly, and I am certain it is.

Again, this station is for those who are either looking to be introduced to Cary Grant-what a perfect collection of movies, for those who only maintain one or two of the movies, or for those who unbiased admire Holiday that powerful. If you are waiting out for the single disc of Holiday, by all means, e-mail the studio and complain and effect noise and do huge things to originate it happen, but don't make a fraudulent opinion that this spot is terrible for those who aren't Cary Grant die-hard fans (when I wrote this review, the place was rated 2 and a half stars, which is not even terminate to how high the quality is) . This is an astounding collection of movies.

Hepburn appears in "Holiday" directed by George Cukor, a depression era film that skewers the upper class. Grant plays Johnny Case an up and coming young business man who thinks more of exploring life than of making money. He finds himself in esteem with the daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur but it is soon distinct that he has more in celebrated with the girl's sister. Lew Ayers turns in a memorable performance as the brother, a philosophizing drunk.
"Only Angels Have Wings" offers a very different Grant, this time playing a the leader of a crew of fearless mail pilots in South America. Here Jean Arthur is the savor interest though a blooming young Rita Hayworth offers competition. Thomas Mitchell is fragment of a stellar cast directed by the huge Howard Hawks.
"Talk of the Town" is to me one of the most underrated films of all time. Grant is Leopold Dilg a labor activist framed for a factory bombing. After escaping from jail he hides out in the bucolic summer home of an old-fashioned childhood friend played by Jean Arthur. The come by is that she's renting the home to one of America's leading proper minds a supreme court candidate played by Ronald Coleman. There is comedy, the inevitable romance and a expedient deal of politics in this surprisingly idea provoking film directed by George Stevens.
Grant is again directed by Hawks but this time in a classic screwball comedy in "His Girl Friday." This remake of "Front Page" introduced the plan of quick fire overlapping dialogue, principally between Grant and co-star Russell who play a veteran husband and wife team that doubled as a newspaper reporting dynamic duo. Grant would like them assist together again but Russell and a would-be second husband played by Ralph Bellamy have other ideas. Grant is diabolical and hilarious as he manipulates events around a forthcoming execution in an concern to accept the girl and the chronicle. Among the laughs, "His Girl Friday" also has a points to develop about corruption, media and justice.
"The Poor Truth" starring Grant and Dunne is straight screwball as the two stars play a divorcing married couple that maybe doesn't really want to separate. Leo McCarey directed this expeditiously paced romp, abominable mature Ralph Bellamy is again Grant's hapless foil.
In the unlikely event I'm sent to a desert island that has a DVD player and can only bring a few DVD sets, this one is coming with me. In any event this box plot should win itself on the the shelves of any Cary Grant fan.

The Ramones are edifying sports and screech their method through the film and truly coming alive during the music sequences. The movie rightfully cements their reputation as legends.

Rock 'n' Roll High School embodies the essence of the punk rock music that made the Ramones renowned. The film is bursting with youthful energy, a dose of honorable ol' fashion anarchy and is loads of fun to search for. These are also the ingredients that made Rock 'n' Roll High School a cult film. It was a commercial and famous failure upon its initial release but repeated midnight screenings, coupled with precise appearances on TV, have helped the film endure over the years.

New to this edition is a "Aid to School: A Retrospective" that takes a recognize wait on at this cult film with unusual interviews with producer Roger Corman, Alan Arkush and cast members Clint Howard, Dey Young, Mary Woronov and Loren Lester and the surviving Ramone from that time, Marky. This is an affectionate, fun gawk at this movie with everyone reminiscing fondly about their experiences.

Producer Michael Finnell, screenwriter Richard Whitley and director Alan Arkush yelp an spicy and rather chatty audio commentary. The three men laugh and joke about working on Rock 'n' Roll High School. They clearly have fond memories of their experiences on the movie.

Another unique addition is an audio commentary by Corman and Young. She admits that in reality she was more like Riff Randell than her character. There are several lulls but it is nice to hear these two reminisce about their experiences on the movie.

Also included is a dynamic theatrical trailer that gives away the ending! Definitely look this last if you haven't seen the movie.

Gone is the Leonard Maltin interview with Roger Corman.

A right treat for fans of the Ramones are several audio outtakes during the filming of the concert sequence. These are the modern audio tracks of the band in action.

While Rock 'n' Roll High School will appeal predominantly to fans of the Ramones (duh!), it is also one of those fun, goofy movies to invite friends over and inspect with copious amounts of junk food on hand. Despite a lackluster transfer, the audio commentary and audio outtakes are worth the ticket of catch for this amazing cinematic oddity.
This is one of my celebrated movies, and normally I'd give it 5 stars. However, the unusual edition from Buena Vista (the third DVD release and the second "Special Edition") says that the film is in anamorphic widescreen. I owned the previous DVD release from a couple of years ago, but unfortunately, this is the same transfer.

Not only is the transfer letterboxed rather than anamorphic, it looks petite better than the VHS, and is also missing some dialogue (where Tom says, "I need to glean laid".) This line was also missing from the laserdisc print. Too awful I didn't sustain my aged VHS tape.

Both DVD versions are labelled "special edition" but the extras are different. The Buena Vista edition (released December 2005) includes a recent audio commentary in addition to the one featured on the 2nd release. Other than that, the only staunch disagreement between the two Special Editions is the hide art.

Bottom line --- if you already gain the disc, you don't need to catch this reissue, unless you've fair got to have the extra audio commentary. And if you don't hold it already, it doesn't manufacture any incompatibility which one you bewitch. (The older edition features the novel poster artwork on the camouflage, and may be less expensive, but both editions are low-priced.)

Love the Flintstones. Have been waiting for a nice priced complete spot. Unfortunately the paper sleeves for the discs WILL destroy up scratching the dvds. Im definite some will be scratched upon catch . So I will gain the single sets. I recommend people acquire those instead. Remarkable nicer cases and only about about $15.95 more (105.94 for all the single sets) than that the laughable looking box the complete station comes in. Course Im tranquil giving it four stars for the episodes.

UPDATE: The regular sets have now been set befriend to their regular stamp of around $32. So its not so advantageous a deal anymore. I guess you could wait for them to be on sale again or honest win your chances with the complete residence. Plus theres no modern bonus material so the only thing your getting EXTRA is the Shocking ORANGE BOX. This region is basically the orignal six season sets repackaged. Again I deem its best to wait for pleasant prices on the single sets. The packaging is grand more convienent.

Just received the place and it's okay being the whole series is here but it's no different from the recent 6 sets. I would have liked it better if they included maybe a book or something besides the disks like the Batman Enthralling series box residence does.

It mentions 4.5 hours of extras leading me to hold they added more extras but that's not the case. The extras are the same as in the individual sets.

Packaging comes in 2 booklets made of cheap cardboard with very tight sleeves to insert the disks. This can and will cause some scratches on the disk being it's tight. About half my discs do have visible scratches on them. The booklets are nice with fair the episode titles of each disc listed on them.

I loathe the grisly orange case so i got rid of it and kept the 2 booklets.

So i give a 3 star rating for the advise, and minus 2 stars for lack of anything extra from the new sets.

UPDATE: The regular sets have now been set befriend to their regular stamp of around $32. So its not so advantageous a deal anymore. I guess you could wait for them to be on sale again or honest win your chances with the complete residence. Plus theres no modern bonus material so the only thing your getting EXTRA is the Shocking ORANGE BOX. This region is basically the orignal six season sets repackaged. Again I deem its best to wait for pleasant prices on the single sets. The packaging is grand more convienent.

Just received the place and it's okay being the whole series is here but it's no different from the recent 6 sets. I would have liked it better if they included maybe a book or something besides the disks like the Batman Enthralling series box residence does.

It mentions 4.5 hours of extras leading me to hold they added more extras but that's not the case. The extras are the same as in the individual sets.

Packaging comes in 2 booklets made of cheap cardboard with very tight sleeves to insert the disks. This can and will cause some scratches on the disk being it's tight. About half my discs do have visible scratches on them. The booklets are nice with fair the episode titles of each disc listed on them.

I loathe the grisly orange case so i got rid of it and kept the 2 booklets.

So i give a 3 star rating for the advise, and minus 2 stars for lack of anything extra from the new sets.

Pros: Realistic themes with a deep exploration of the character's emotions, motivations and reactions. How well would you survive being a diminutive girl "forced" to shoot guns and destroy people? Could you be normal?
Cons: Action wise, suspense wise, space twisting wise, mysterious inquire of answering wise . . . it fails to yelp. It is subdued and calm, a sort of "mild" anime without a spacious hook or a ravishing finale. It leaves you with many questions. This anime fair "IS," Ivan Denisovich style even.

Yeah, so girls with guns. The serve read something about them being cyborgs from a secret agency. Ok, so then a cliched place entered my mind: they are generally calm, innocent looking girls that can kick some major butt, and then there'll be a large conspiracy with their agency and they extinguish up having to fight to observe the truth and to obtain it out alive.

Boy, that was Rotten! (in a satisfactory method) And that doesn't give away the state. Why? Because there really isn't a location. There is no main enemy, no spacious conspiracy, no ruin honest in the entire three disks. There is NO unifying force that the girls are united against . . . tagible force that is.

The series is about these girls who were terminal patients or victims. They were restored assist to life through bioengineering, cybernetics and a lot of weapons training . . . and they were made into assassins. However, the series does not focus on their missions, the action or the combat. In fact, such scenes are kinda there because they have to be. Rather, the drive of the series is the interaction between the girls and between the girl and their handler, or "brother." Each handler is different with his girl, treating her differently, conditioning them differently. It's this relationship between the young girl and her handler that makes the series depart. Each episode is a tiny more about the girl and how she and her handler interact.

The first DVD introduces the main characters in 5 episodes (though it does not introduce Angelica to a noble range, unprejudiced mentions her name) . The first two episodes are hard to follow as they jump aid and forth between scenes happening at different times, or the same scene again from another light or the same scene from another character's perspective. It basically introduces Henrietta, Rico, Triela and Claes, in that order. I ended the first DVD feeling very noble about it, having the protagonists' introductions out of the intention, and feeling as if the action was about to occupy up a lot.

The second DVD did not do that . . . but neither did it disappoint. It is further development about the girls and their handlers. It has a exiguous more action, but not by a tremendous deal. We gather introduced to the last two characters and their handlers: Angelica and Marco, Elsa and Lauro. The first half of the DVD deals with RF bombers in which the main three fratello are enthusiastic. Next is a peep at Rico. The last two episodes deal with the last two girls introduced, and the stark differences between the fratello of Elsa and Lauro and of Henrietta and Jose.

Basically . . . it's 13 episodes of getting to know these girls. Yes, they are cyborg assassins working for a secret government agency in Italy, but the focus is not on the action, not on the missions or the secrecy or the conspiracies or the shadow of their pasts coming attend to haunt them. It is about their exhibit lives, how they are handling it, how proper they actually are and what kind of lives they live. It really is spicy, though i'd honestly have to say that it could really be monotonous. I'm very alive to in stories and character interactions. The idea of the anime is about the girls' relationships with each other and their handlers, not about their action sequences. Therefore, it can easily leave someone with many questions, a sense of disatisfaction or worse. As well, it has a smaller amount of dialogue than most other anime. The moments of silence reminded me of that sad moment in Evangelion in the elevator. Though there are action sequences, they seem to only be there to reinforce something about the relationships between the girls and their handlers.

Finally, I liked the anime. I opinion it was very different from what I originally percieved it to be, and so it was a nice surprise later on as I got to understand what it was about. I fancy the characters and could sympathize with them. It is definitely not an action anime and I can't really consider of any other anime to compare it to. Perhaps best compared to Now and Then, Here and There.

I would recommend this to people who like characters, because that's honestly what it's all about. It is very subdued, realistic and without impartial about any dwelling twists. If you're a fan of stout action or comedy, like most other anime out there, and not launch to watching Ghost in the Shell without the action sequences, then I would not recommend this. I would not recommend it to children. It's rather passe in its topics, not to the point of sexually venerable or violently weak, unbiased that the concepts and ideas are complex, requiring the ability to describe to the characters somewhat and understand their individual situations. This is not going to be your typical anime. It's smooth for the most fragment and it's still for the most portion.

If that sounds obtuse: GG has more in accepted with most grand films and novels than with other anime series. Even those that are dramatic and violent generally rely on visceral thrills, and the few, like Neon Gensis Evangelion and Serial Experiment Lain, that seem to have a "higher" artistic purpose, often topple short in the final reckoning (does anybody really understand these two titles? ) .

Visually, GG is extremely simple. The majority of the characters are either built on the model of a figure-less prepubescent girl or a middle-aged man in a suit, and except for the sequences of violence (which, it should be noticed, are rarer than it might at first seem) many shots are unexcited of characters standing around and talking in tiring, uninflected voices. (Side note: There is some hysterical audio commentary on these discs. On one of them, one of the protest actors playing a handler says to another: "Yo, I judge we should talk like this in steady life. [gruff, flat] "Hey, I believe we should go out for a pizza. How does that sound? ""Roger, copy that.") The animation is quiet of a very high quality in the action sequences, but the attention is drawn away from the visuals and to the sage.

Hopefully there's no need to restate the series' presence. What should be stated, though, is that the series is not about violence, or social problems, but overwhelmingly about cherish. The basic anxiety or the premise--that minute girls are brainwashed and forced to commit political murders--is almost taken for granted by the final episode; the blueprint that people treat each other and their affections are of considerable greater importance, and ultimately far more horrifying. Violence is a visceral expression of wounded human emotions, and it's no accident that the series is soundtracked by the sublimely depressing "Dislike" (The Delgados) --songs about longing and loneliness, but on examination, perfectly splendid to this world.

All this is honest to say that Gunslinger Girl should be taken for what it is: a singular work with a specific style and a dogmatic theme. It has very miniature in the design of entertainment (although there are a few comic moments), sexiness, violent kicks or uplifting morals about how, if you own in yourself, you can accept into Tokyo U. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I would highly recommend it both to anime fans and also to those who might never gaze another anime title, but want to survey something of chilling, heartbreaking emotional power.

The last couple Eva Platinum DVDs have been falsely labeled. In the review it says that Episodes 18-20 are on this disc, while in reality they are on disc 5. The episodes on this disc are 21, 22, and 23.

Don't regain me putrid, the reviews are big. They're unbiased for the improper disc. Maybe Amazon will salvage the error and fix it. Maybe.

This is the best section of the series, however, ADV didn't do justice on the DVD either. The narrate is somewhat hazy, and the English dubbing isn't up to par. The voices of the characters are kind of bland. I've seen the entire TV series on KTEH (a PBS plot in San Jose) . I like the Japanese version a lot better, fair turn on the English subtitle and glimpse the entire thing. In the Japanese version when Shinji screams in dread, it makes your skin streak.

Now, my granddaughter is only 20 months archaic but she adores Barney. She sings and dances along with him and it is astonishing how many of the dances and songs she remembers. It is so cute so here her limited insist singing the songs fair along with them ... and at times she will out of nowhere pop up and commence singing one of the songs ... and dancing one of the dances ... Now, her Dad can't stand Barney, and was totally against her watching Barney to launch with ... but as she has learned so mighty from it and is so cute ... he has gotten to indulge in all she has learned and I have noticed him putting the DVD on for her from time-to-time ... NOW THAT IS A RECOMMENDATION!!! It was also cute for my daughter and I, to peruse so many of the kids that had grown up ... as she aloof has VHS Barney videos that were her son's that are almost 10 years ancient. Barney never goes out of date or out of style.

This DVD does a honorable job spirited quick from song to song and it really seems to hold my daughter's attention. It is a itsy-bitsy long for her to sit through entirely but she loves Barney and gets wrathful when the first song comes on. I contemplate it is one of the better Barney videos because I don't have to search for the bonus material and acquire the songs for her. She can impartial see the movie.

Barney never goes out of date or out of style.

This DVD does a honorable job spirited quick from song to song and it really seems to hold my daughter's attention. It is a itsy-bitsy long for her to sit through entirely but she loves Barney and gets wrathful when the first song comes on. I contemplate it is one of the better Barney videos because I don't have to search for the bonus material and acquire the songs for her. She can impartial see the movie.

So, if you really liked the others you might be disappointed in this one also. And, to be blooming, my daughter asked to spy it a second time apt after watching it so it can't be all unpleasant.

Wow! The transfer of this film is incredible! Prior to last night I'd only seen LFP on a black Canadian vhs rental and an equally murky (visually - the account is another matter) Asian dvd release - both sans subtitles. Even with inky shadows and soupy colors I was so taken with this film - the sage, the direction and the performances that I signed up for this release the day I got the Amazon observe! Now, finally seeing LFP as it was originally intended, I am amazed at how worthy the overall impact of the film is intensified - and LFP is beautiful high voltage even in half-light!

Previous reviewers have laid out the storyline, so I'll omit a synopsis of Ethel's scuttle to her vast crash as an actress. Suffice it to say, Zulawski is a master at taking what is essentially an over-the-top fable, setting it in a specific historical context, and then making it chillingly true.

As to the extras, the essays and transcribed 1984 interviews (what tipped me to the premium ed) are captivating and well worth the extra cost. Engrossing to project on where many of the principals are now compared to their comments made almost 25 years ago.

Zulawski's commentary and on-camera interview give the viewer a gape into his attitudes and philosophy of film direction as well as specifics about making the film and creating an adapted screenplay. Tantalizing for film buffs; invaluable to screenwriters. The soundtrack is a stand alone bonus I didn't query to be pleased this grand. Now it's on my favorites play list.

There is no fluff here. The Premium Edition is crammed with mountainous stuff not the least of which is a wonderful transfer of a truly spirited film.

Way to go Mondo Vision... so what's next?
La Femme Publique (The Public Woman) (1984) is the sage of aspiring young actress Ethel (played by the comely and versatile Valérie Kaprisky), who by accepting a role in a film based on Dostoyevsky's 'The Possessed', directed by controversial Czech filmmaker Lucas Kessling (played with frosty cold and raving madness by Francis Huster) is sucked into a world of manipulation, political conspiracy and confusion.

There are many subplots in this film and the line between reality and acting is blurred for both Ethel and the viewer, but this doesn't detract from the beautifully peaceful shots, visual style and colors or the film itself.

This was the first film I've viewed by Polish director Andrzej Zulawski and it has left me impressed. I'll definitely be seeking out more films by him.

Video/Audio:

The Hi-Def Anamorphic film transfer (popular by Zulawski) retains the film's fresh 1.66:1 ratio and was undertaken by gifted UK videophile David Mackenzie (http://www.lyris-lite.net/) and it is a visual feast - spruce, vibrant, film-like (grain!) and overall - fabulous. The audio is crisp and well-balanced.

It is dim box with red holo-foil stamping, huge artwork, 10 B&W photo reproductions (with their gain envelope), a Certificate of Authenticity (ltd. to 2000), a CD soundtrack (track list is included) remastered by composer Alain Wisniak (I am a broad fan of DVD sets that include this) AND a glossy 48-page booklet featuring an essay by Daniel Bird (who moderates the DVD's Commentary) and interviews with the director and cast members from 1984. Best of all the whole package fits on your DVD shelf next to all your other standard clam shell cases (it's only slightly larger overall) .

Final Thoughts:

This is a perfect film for fans of unconventional/drama/art house/indie/foreign flicks. Thank you Mondo Vision, this DVD spot gives Criterion a speed for their money. Here's hoping for more quality packages from this company. I only wish more films were treated this well.

But for apt now, "Abolish, She Wrote" - The Complete Fourth Season is a must for mystery fans. If you liked the first three seasons, then you'll like season four too. Plus, the unusual DVD format state is great improved over the previous three DVD sets of "Destroy, She Wrote" (seasons 1, 2, & 3), which has three disks with episodes that are played on both sides of the disks. For season four, there are five disks, and the episodes are played on only one side. This comes after many complaints over the awful DVD quality of the first three seasons of the exhibit. This was very great right for me too. I had a few problems with the first three DVD sets (where, while playing, an episode would impartial close for no apparent reason) . I didn't have this jam at all with any of the disks for season four. So for those of you out there who've experienced this jam, you shouldn't have the same plight with the fourth season of "Execute, She Wrote".

I absolutely cherish this indicate, and am thrilled to fill the first 3 seasons that have been released. However, I must agree with many fans of the note out there that have had problems with the double-sided discs, which Universal has, for some reason, felt they needed to expend up to this point. In particular, my season 2 place sometimes won't play positive episodes, and other times it will!?? Plus, the unusual DVD format state is great improved over the previous three DVD sets of "Destroy, She Wrote" (seasons 1, 2, & 3), which has three disks with episodes that are played on both sides of the disks. For season four, there are five disks, and the episodes are played on only one side. This comes after many complaints over the awful DVD quality of the first three seasons of the exhibit. This was very great right for me too. I had a few problems with the first three DVD sets (where, while playing, an episode would impartial close for no apparent reason) . I didn't have this jam at all with any of the disks for season four. So for those of you out there who've experienced this jam, you shouldn't have the same plight with the fourth season of "Execute, She Wrote".

I absolutely cherish this indicate, and am thrilled to fill the first 3 seasons that have been released. However, I must agree with many fans of the note out there that have had problems with the double-sided discs, which Universal has, for some reason, felt they needed to expend up to this point. In particular, my season 2 place sometimes won't play positive episodes, and other times it will!?? I glimpse that season 4 indicates is a 5-disc area -- which leaves me wondering -- are we finally to be given the privilege of single-sided discs??? I TRULY hope so -- as do many other fans. Thank you, Universal. I am also overjoyed that they are releasing these season sets at a fairly decent whisk. I'm furious to salvage this next season status!!!

Car Inconvenience has the return of annoying pest in Gizmo. In it, Cyborg builds a hi-tech car, but it winds up getting stolen by some thieves... then Gizmo steals it from them. Cyborg(with aid from Raven) attempts to consume it befriend. Raven also shows a slightly lighter and friendlier side in this episode. A cute expose, especially if you're a fan of either character(me being a fan of both, I enjoyed it quite a bit) .

Mad Mod has the Titans regain captured by... Exasperated Mod. They wind up having to deal with his psycadelic "school" of death. The episode is graceful worthy an excuse to be crazy, and you'll either adore or despise this one.

Deep Six has the Titans facing a original foe called trident. Due to his underwater abilities Beast Boy has to face him alone, but luckily, there's also underwater ally Aqualad to relieve. Shame I didn't care for this one. Beast Boy was unprejudiced too worthy of a jerk, and Aqualad was monotonous.

The other 3 episodes, Masks, and Apprentice, pts. 1 and 2, deal with the main plotline of season 1: Robin vs. Slade. Masks sets the events of Apprentice up, as Robin must battle Slade(brilliantly voiced by Ron Perlman, who was also Clayface in both Batman: TAS and Justice League) as well as his occupy inner demons, especially when Slade reveals honest what he wants. These episodes are fabulous, and give the series some nice depth and even a bit of darkness, which may surprise a regular viewer who expects this honest to be a regular "kiddy" reveal.

Sadly, I don't know of any special features confirmed yet. The first disk had an sterling stare slack the creation of the unusual 1980's droll, so I wonder if there will be anything along those lines for the second volume. I wouldn't mind if there was an interview with the announce actors of the present. However, in typical with the "DC comics kids" releases I won't be surprised if there is another "interactive" game for the kids. Overall, these are some classic episodes from the series, and fans will likely appreciate this DVD.
As a ninteen year obsolete male, I'm probably among the lowest demographic who watches this exhibit. Nonetheless, I can say this is one of the best interesting series to be released in a long time. This DVD perfectly shows everything that Teen Titans is... the murky, the humorous, the middle of the line, and the dreadful filler. I'm also ecstatic to say that seven episodes are on this DVD, so you're not getting ripped off here (ahem, Trigun) .

The pinnacle of this DVD is the last five episodes, which are simply among the best of the whole season. They showcase everything that makes TT so wonderful. Let's gain to it.

-Masks and Apprentice fragment 1/2 are the last three episodes of the main "Slade" narrative arc. These are absolutely excelent episodes, with some grade A dialogue, a spicy tiny fable, and a REALLY strong depiction of something called OBSESSION. Robin really shows us what he's like, and the character development is top notch. Nice music and action too. This is the unlit, and I admire it.

-Mad Mod is totally laughable. I can't say great about it, but there are tons of in-jokes to go around that might stagger by you the first time. Anyways, it's one of the funnier things I've seen lately, and it's unprejudiced so delightfully nonsensical. If you want mindless humor, this is it. Amusing writing, once again. This is the amusing, and I admire it.

-Car Difficulty and Switched are proper between. They aren't laughable, neither are they unlit. It's impartial two well done episodes that invent a point. They've got broad writing, and some honorable character development. Sadly, the villans are terrible, but they don't bring down the episodes too noteworthy. This is the middle of the line, and I like it.

-Deep six is poor. Not comical, not piquant, not making a obliging point. This is the dreadful filler, and I don't like it. Thankfully, it's only one episode on a disc of seven (where many other anime DVD's have 3-5 eps) so it's no sizable deal. The prove as a whole as a few too many of these episodes, and these are what brings the demonstrate down the most.

So there it is. If you could only remove one DVD of the whole series, this should be it. Grand DVD for a genuine series that anyone can luxuriate in, for a friendly note.

To begin out, this is one of my current books. So I of course started out with an additude to initiate with, muttering that the book was always better. In this case, I was so contemptible. The characters portrayed in this film are the same ones I met in 5th grade when I first read "Diminutive Women". The actors shine in their roles and truly embody everyone one of the literary creations they represents.

Playing the March matriarch, Susan Sarandon is gigantic! She is able to contain the feel of the period while bringing to Marmee an empowering bout of women's rights thoughts. Sarandon gives off warmth and knowledge wiht the apparent ease of someone completely familiar with the material.

Wynona Ryder is another standout here. She is the raging bundle of emotion that we have all reach to know as Jo March. Playing down her usually original features, Ryder plays the piece with spunk and earnestness.

My common here is Christian Bale as the oft attach uopn Theodore "Laurie" Lawrence. Quite a jump from his "Newsies" days, Bale is the best Laurie I have seen on veil to date. He has the mannerisms and lines down to perfection, while serene maintaining the spontanaity that really is a great share of Laurie's character. He also handles the age jump incredibly well.

Not until my most unusual viewing of the movie did I realize Gabriel Byrne was Professor Bhaer. The native irishman does a gigantic job of bringing Frerdrick to life, lawful down to his physical bumbling and poetic heart.

In my conception, this movie was a complete triumph and a complete success from current to film. All actors are delicate in their roles, most exceptional, and it is such a joy to look an old-fashioned approved and all-time classic brought to life which such enthusiasm and talent. This is a must-see for any fan of the novel~although it will leave you yearning for "Tiny Men" and Jo's Boys" featuring this cast-which has yet to be done!!

This version of Petite Women is a classic in its believe honest. Armstrong did an incredible job here capturing the period and coaxing gorgeous performances from her cast. Ryder, Dunst, Alvarado, Mathis, Sarandon, Byrne, Bale and a heartbreaking Danes are all in top originate. Visually, the movie is objective graceful and the soundtrack is mesmerizing. A must ogle.

Listen. you probably saw a note called "Aged Aliens" on The History Channel recently and belief it was frosty, so you wanted to prefer the DVD. Well, I was the same arrangement. BUT, this isn't it! I bought this DVD and it's Traditional. It unprejudiced has the same name as the other one that was more current. The one you want is also called "Customary Aliens" but it hasn't reach out yet. Check the History Channels website and do a search there. The shroud you want has a silver UFO and a slash circle animal looking thing. I unprejudiced want to achieve people from doing what I did.

One of the things that makes life so astounding is the human mind. And it's ability to ponder questions such as those presented in this documentary. Did frail aliens visit the earth during biblical--even PRE-biblical times? Why is it that every culture seems to have drawings or stories of saucer shaped objects being viewed in the skies? You cannot say that it was thanks to the media or conversations about the phenomena--because neither television, radio, or telephones existed at the time. There certainly are some very excellent points made in this (and similar) documentaries on the subject, and this reviewer happens to absorb that 'Ancient Astronauts' DID indeed visit our planet...and continue to do so. This doc is a bit older--it is NOT the 2009 program recently aired on The History Channel. That dvd IS now also available for those fervent. Though not as terribly dated as 'Chariots Of The Gods' (which explored this subject matter well over 20 years ago), it does not have the 'slick look' and production values of the aforementioned (2009) doc of the same name. One reviewer (Mr. Mingo) mentions the lack of female and other 'ethnic' (I hope that term is not offensive to some) interviewees...but my expect to him is--So WHAT? Does everyone nowadays have to be a 'Politically Correct' EXTREMIST??? Should we cessation watching some of the films produced in the 50's, 60's, and 70's unprejudiced because the majority of the cast were caucasion? I can totally bask in the wide variety of nationalities when it comes to today's productions. It certainly adds to the realism. But to bring up a point such as this (no females or non-caucasions in the production) in a review is unprejudiced downright Droll and smacks of self-righteousness. The bottom line is this is an luminous, well-done, view provoking doc. Whether or not aliens visited (or continue to visit) our planet is for YOU to choose!

In Dirty Dancing, Jennifer Grey stars as Frances "Baby" Houseman, a girl who goes on vacation to the Catskills with her father, mother and sister in the summer of 1963. She meets the graceful dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), who works at the lodge where they're staying, and is smitten with him. When she volunteers to beget in for Johnny's dance partner, Baby experiences cherish and life firsthand from the free-spirited Johnny.

The DVD version of this movie is terrific. The clarity is fantastic, the sound is crisp & obvious and the bonuses are fabulous. With the bonus features, you derive commentary from the movie's creator, a behind-the-scenes featurette (with no audio), the videos for "She's Like the Wind," "I've Had the Time of My Life" & "Hungry Eyes," biographies about the cast & crew (Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze, Cynthia Rhodes, Jerry Orbach, Jack Weston, the director, the producer, the writer and the choreographer), a short "Reliving the 60s" documentary, the theatrical trailer and a concert featuring the music from the movie.

If you fancy Dirty Dancing, I highly recommended getting this DVD. It would be a expansive addition to add to your collection!

It is awfully hard not to net swept up into the nostalgic heat and sentiment of this unabashedly, and well-done, teen romance. It is, by turns, sexy, comic, melodramatic, jamming (what with that soundtrack chock bulky of some of the best pop hits of the 60s mixed with a few vast unusual songs) and campy. Yet the overriding feeling of miserable and wistfulness, portrayed with accurate talent by Jennifer Grey, as the perfect Baby, transforms this movie into something lasting, something to really cherish. Cynthia Rhodes is absolutely riveting -- as usual -- in the second female lead; she is a spectacular dancer and electrifying whenever she is on the cloak. The aching feeling of first right love/lust/whatever, here directed at hunky Patrick Swayze, who is by the method an gracious dancer, comes to beefy flower at a Poconos resort. As all manner of soapy subplots fade through their predictable paces, we are treated to the transformation of our young heroine and any number of savory musical numbers, capped off by the irresistably romantic Time Of My Life -- that feeling of enthralling through a romance that has somehow changed your life is captured with a rare sweetness, and it stays with you.

When she volunteers to beget in for Johnny's dance partner, Baby experiences cherish and life firsthand from the free-spirited Johnny.

The DVD version of this movie is terrific. The clarity is fantastic, the sound is crisp & obvious and the bonuses are fabulous. With the bonus features, you derive commentary from the movie's creator, a behind-the-scenes featurette (with no audio), the videos for "She's Like the Wind," "I've Had the Time of My Life" & "Hungry Eyes," biographies about the cast & crew (Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze, Cynthia Rhodes, Jerry Orbach, Jack Weston, the director, the producer, the writer and the choreographer), a short "Reliving the 60s" documentary, the theatrical trailer and a concert featuring the music from the movie.

If you fancy Dirty Dancing, I highly recommended getting this DVD. It would be a expansive addition to add to your collection!

It is awfully hard not to net swept up into the nostalgic heat and sentiment of this unabashedly, and well-done, teen romance. It is, by turns, sexy, comic, melodramatic, jamming (what with that soundtrack chock bulky of some of the best pop hits of the 60s mixed with a few vast unusual songs) and campy. Yet the overriding feeling of miserable and wistfulness, portrayed with accurate talent by Jennifer Grey, as the perfect Baby, transforms this movie into something lasting, something to really cherish. Cynthia Rhodes is absolutely riveting -- as usual -- in the second female lead; she is a spectacular dancer and electrifying whenever she is on the cloak. The aching feeling of first right love/lust/whatever, here directed at hunky Patrick Swayze, who is by the method an gracious dancer, comes to beefy flower at a Poconos resort. As all manner of soapy subplots fade through their predictable paces, we are treated to the transformation of our young heroine and any number of savory musical numbers, capped off by the irresistably romantic Time Of My Life -- that feeling of enthralling through a romance that has somehow changed your life is captured with a rare sweetness, and it stays with you.

Someone wrote a review previously that said parents who were bashing this thing that dares to call itself DR. SEUSS' THE CAT IN THE HAT had forgotten that the valuable reason for its existence was to entertain children. They wrote that their children's laughter was the most notable thing to remember when sitting through this detestable fragment of dreck.

Visually, this film is enchanting in the same map an acid dream would be. The actors are a group of talented people. But, in case you didn't perceive it when you were watching the film or have had the pleasurable fortune not to eye it yet, the jokes are lewd and inappropriate; the sage was bloated unnecessarily. The movie exists for no reason except to gain money. It was not done in the spirit of the unique book. It was not done because someone found an appropriate or inspired arrive to the material. (In fact, the film is expressionless, insipid, confusing and, for no reason at all, includes jokes about lawyers and insurance - jokes that I hope were lost on children.)

The book is simple, arresting, brief and to-the-point. It makes reading fun, and it encourages children and beginning readers to embrace a practice that will enrich their minds. This film does none of that. It's not even droll.

Mike Myers would be better former in something else. Alec Baldwin really needs to score better projects than this. Dakota Fanning and Spencer Breslin are talented young actors who deserve better material, rather than having to originate characters stuck in the middle of a mindless special-effects extravaganza.

THE CAT IN THE HAT, if there was any justice, should form no money in the theaters. (Unfortunately, though, it has.) But a lot of people who've seen it despise the film. Dislike it. Abominate dislike dislike dislike despise it.

Take that as a warning.

How could they seize a sweet anecdote and depraved it this design? I have sat many a night with my children, reading this tale over and over. They absolutely fancy Seuss.

I impartial wanted to say that I have never experienced any problems with our DVD taking too long to load. It is honest like any other DVD, when you keep it in you wait for the restriction info, hit menu, hit menu again to skip the bit that explains how to exercise the DVD and hit play. It starts honest like all the rest. I judge it is tall that they are slowly getting these switched to DVD. I cherish Rolie Polie Olie and my son loves it too. It's defintely worth the $$$ or whatever it is.

We, too, never had any grief bypassing the menu. This is another big creation by Disney. For any kids and parents who care for Playhouse Disney, this is the DVD for you, honest sweet Halloween cheer. We would rate it a 10 if we could. It is one of our favorites!!!

It's a hoot.

John Travolta is usually advertised as being in this movie, and he is-but if you didn't know it going in, you would never consume him out of the group EYELESS DEMON WORSHIPPERS(!!!) .

NOW, you would contemplate that with a site like this, and this level of tricked-out 70's talent, "Devil's Rain" Couldn't miss.

It sucks.

BUT- its suck is such a complete and perfect suck that it actually UN-SUCKS! Robert Persig said that sanity is round, like the globe, and if your nutty-butt keeps going in one direction you will eventually wind up sane.

This movie proves that theory.
In the wake of "Deep Throat", the Peraino family was swimming in cash and looking for a map to give it that squeaky super shine. You gawk, the Perainos were members of the Columbo family, and strange as it seems to those of us raised from the Eighties onward, porno flicks and the storefront loops that preceded them were very worthy an illegal commodity to beget. So, Louis "Butch" Peraino headed west and decided to initiate his beget production and distribution house called Bryanston Pictures. Bryanston made quite a name for themselves by distributing material that other studios wouldn't touch, like "Andy Warhol's Frankenstein"; the detached unavailable-on-DVD "Coonskin"; and their crown jewel, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". A D.A. in Memphis, alive to to do a name for himself, indicted Peraino and other members of his family, and soon after their conviction in April 1976, Bryanston's west cruise office closed for well-behaved. A considerable more detailed version of this anecdote is contained in Legs McNeil's incredible book "The Other Hollywood", which I can't recommend strongly enough. So you came here looking for a description of melting satan worshippers and not a history lesson, eh? Well, it's coming, unbiased let me do ;) The reason for the spiel about Bryanston is that "The Devil's Rain" unprejudiced happens to be one of the last films they handled. And among such stiff competition as "Frankenstein", probably the strangest.

"TDR" can obtain confusing, but the basic tale goes something like this. 300 years ago, Puritans caught wind that there was a group of the devil's minions in their midst. Now, this was a unusual scene, kittys, seeing as how they were lead by Corbis (Ernest Borgnine in Pilgrim garb) and counted among their number William Shatner. Ol' Billy's wife takes Corbis' astronomical book pudgy of blood pledges to Lucifer to the Puritan chief, and bam, we've got a pudgy scale stake burning. Flash forward to the note day, and either Corbis or his descendant (it's never made distinct) is after that book, and the Preston family that harbors it. Sounds fun, huh? Well, where else can you gaze Shatner crucified upside down? Or Borgnine hamming it up in goat makeup? Heck, "The Devil's Rain" cornered the market on melting the enemies of God six years before "Raiders of the Lost Ark"!

Anton LeVay was some sort of consultant to the producers, and even makes a cameo during the sunless mass. I guess he had a sense of humor. Director Robert Fuest is better known for the two "Dr. Phibes" films he made with Vincent Label, and the principal and commercial reception to this characterize relegated him to television movies. Even so, "TDR" had an impact on the history of dread films well beyond what anyone could have imagined at the time. Check out Shatner's face after he becomes an eyeless zombie. Peer familiar? That camouflage would become very, very famed a few years hence.

Time to upgrade, folks. Murky Sky makes the previous DVD edition outmoded. This novel transfer from the 35mm negative is fair by comparison. The extras include an audio commentary with Fuest, which I had a rather difficult time paying attention to, probably because both Fuest and the moderator have very dry, soft British voices. There's a short black-and-white clip of LeVay performing a marriage ceremony, the film's trailer, some production stills and a Dusky Sky catalog. Turn off your mind, don't wonder why the Prestons haven't simply destroyed the book, and this might earn a superb beer and popcorn flick. It's very great of the mid-70s, which may be a expedient or awful thing depending on your particular perspective.
