If you’re a fan of Brian Helgeland, Paul Bettany (Chaucer), or impartial commentary tracks in general, don’t pick the extended edition. The regular DVD has every feature the “extended” edition does – it impartial doesn’t insert the deleted scenes into the movie. They’re included as bonus features. This extended edition does not include the hilarious and insightful commentary track by Helgeland and Bettany, which is really the best thing about the DVD. You find more features for less money by buying the regular DVD release.

Apparently audiences couldn’t quite figure out A Knight’s Story when it had its theatrical release last year. This was in all likelihood due to the combination of rock music in archaic times clashing with our knowledge of history and our shapely sensibilities. However, having both seen this at the cinema and owning it on DVD, I would like to hope that this movie will be given a second chance to accept modern viewers as it really is a pleasurable film and enormous fun!

Heath Ledger (The Patriot) displaying mammoth charm and a winning smile throughout, plays William Thatcher, squire to a washed up champion jouster, who dies during a competition, leaving William to masquerade as his master in order to gather their winnings. Aided by his initially less than enthusiatic pals Roland (Note Addy from Paunchy Monty) and Wat (Alan Tudyk, 28 Days) William fakes nobility to illegally enter competitions. On their travels they encounter a naked wanderer, the future famous author, Geoffrey Chaucer (Paul Bettany) who joins their `crusade’ and helps to forge William’s ancestral lineage, so that he can remove portion in the noblemen only games. Whilst competing (according to my wife who seems to like every Australian film star) the very graceful William catches the gaze of a lady, Jocelyn (the very ravishing Shannyn Sossamon), and sets out to accept her heart. However, standing between William and his two goals of winning the World Championships and winning the hand of Lady Jocelyn stands the dastardly Count Adhemar (brilliantly played by Rufus Sewell, Sad City) .

This is a surprising change of direction for writer/Director Brian Helgelend (LA Confidential) . This movie is gargantuan fun and the mixture of rock music (they impart, clap and price Queen’s We Will Rock You before each joust) and medieval times works surprisingly well, adding to the excitement and atmosphere of each competition. Both Heath Ledger and Shannyn Sossamon shine in their lead roles and part edifying on-screen sexual chemistry. However, it is Paul Bettany who steals most scenes as the occasionally naked, always in wretchedness, lyrical Geoffrey Chaucer. Also peer out for James Purefoy in a relatively itsy-bitsy role (but tipped for greater things)!

Extra features on the DVD include a light-hearted commentary from Brian Helgeland and Paul Bettany, where they deliver some of the FX tricks of the trade and hear Helgeland feign ignorance of the fact that they didn’t dance to David Bowie in 1366 or play Queen’s “We Will Rock You” at jousting tournaments. There is also a passable documentary and some edifying deleted scenes and a music video where Britains most common of recent musical stars Robbie Williams performs Queen’s “We Are the Champions” with all the pomp and grandiosity of Freddie Mercury, outlining why he is considered natural heir to Mercury’s throne as Britains Greatest Showman.

Four stars for the movie (five stars are far too often and easily dispensed), four stars for the extras. Well worth checking out.

One thing about “The Shield” is how well the prove holds up on multiple viewings. It’s probably because of the attention to detail and the numerous anecdote arcs going on in any single episode. This continues to be the case in the 7th and final season of the exhibit.

Season 7 finds Det. Vic Mackey, at the demolish of the line. Season 6 finished with Vic walking out on his last chance to withhold his job with the LAPD and making a deal with faded police Captain, now wannabe-Mayor Aciveda to capture down the hooked developer who has been bankrolling Aciveda’s political career. Meanwhile, Vic’s strike team is beginning to advance apart at the seams, all of their primitive awful deeds are bubbling to the surface, and on top of that Vic’s ex-wife and daughter are alarmed of him. Vic’s a dirty cop with a perverted sense of justice. He thinks that if he can nail this twisted developer AND retract down the Armenian mob, it will beget up for all the disagreeable things he has done.

The season plays out almost as a tragedy, and is the strongest season of the Shield since the grand season 3. Watching these episodes again, I’m most struck by the relationship between Dutch and Capt. Wymms. Both actors do terrific work as seemingly the only people in the precinct who seem to care about Mackey’s abuses, and the quest to bring him down strains them to the breaking point.

The rest of the cast is solid as always. David Rees Snell, who plays Ronnie Gardocki on the strike team, shows a whole lot more here than he has in the past. But the trusty standouts are Michael Chiklis as Mackey, and Walt Goggins as his longtime best friend/failed protege Shane Vendrell. Goggins is outstanding in the final episodes. He’s done obnoxious things and he can barely live with himself, yet he continues on to try and attend his wife and children.

The exhibit ends in about the only logical state it could ruin. The last three episodes in particular are shattering. The writing, acting, and direction are all fabulous, and “The Shield” goes out on a highly satisfying and emotional peak. A must enjoy.

The Shield’s final season is uncompromising as primitive ghosts continue to complicate lives in farmington. Every moment of this season remains focused on the impending raze, and long time viewers are rewarded as the major site points reach to a head and pay off. This was not a quickie hurry job to demolish the legend, every member of the cast moves with deliberate and in some cases desperate urgency.

The season is topped off by one of the most satsifying endings I have seen in a television display. It’s a credit to the writers and actors eager that I can pity a character I despised an episode earlier, or that a complex character like Vic Mackey can charm his procedure through a horrific dialogue.

The biggest asset to Kathy’s DVD’s is that it is reliable for all levels. She classifies parts of her DVD as beginner / intermediate / advanced but it is more so that beginners can objective do 12 minutes of stepping, etc. The whole workout is improbable and is not too hard to follow. I am not the most co-ordinated person in the world and I can do her workout without stumbling around like an idiot (which trust me, I would do if it contained a lot of dancey-steps) .

I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone that is keen in step aerobics. It’s a large workout and you won’t be disappointed!

I had this video some years succor, and loved it so powerful that when I decided to go attend to step aerobics a few weeks ago, the first video I bought was this one. Kathy Smith is one kick-butt aerobics instructor! She puts you through your paces, while seemingly effortlessly, keeps you entertained. There is a beginner’s allotment (12 minutes of step aerobics), followed by an intermediate fragment (another 13 minutes), then finally, an advanced step aerobics share (12 minutes) then of course, a really ample frosty down/abdominal workout. You can conclude the video after section one, two, or do all three sections, depending on your fitness level.

Her crew consists of about ten 20 and 30-something people, three of which seize over parts of the video in piece one–keeping it mixed up and bewitching. There is no amusing chatting to find through; all participants are professional and really witness like they know what they’re doing. This video isn’t difficult to follow at all, has sizable step-by step intructions of each modern travel, and there is plenty of repitition so that the participant can derive on to the moves, and actually indulge in the workout. I’m not clear we’re all seeing the same movie here. One comment I support hearing is that the actresses did not gain well, and I cannot comprehend it. Ziyi Zhang especially gave one of the best performances I have seen in years, at least. Impartial recognize at her physically shaking during her last scene with Ken Watanabe. All I can say is, the cinematography and settings are pleasing, as are the actresses (and what a stellar cast!), the performances are mammoth (maybe the bar has been lowered so mighty lately that the degree of skill brought to the cloak here is more than some people can handle) . That’s the only reason I can offer for the dreadful reactions I have heard.

The anecdote is entertaining, and very realistic in terms of human nature. The romance is improbable. There are flashes of humor and some of the script is pure poetry (and as a poet you can have me on that!) I could go on all day, but let me impartial say this.

The movie is awesome, and the time flew by for me. It is not the over-wrought heart-rending sap that some may want it to be, but it is very right to the procedure most people behave, and especially in the reserved manner of the Japanese. Memoirs of a Geisha is a fine movie. I haven’t read the book, but now wish I had. The movie is cessation to 2 1/2 hours long, but the tale and scenery are so spellbinding, it seems so mighty quicker. The costumes are amazing and it’s no wonder they are nominated for Oscars.

It tells the sage of a itsy-bitsy girl called Chiyo who along with her older sister, is sold by their father who has no money. The people who bought her, want to construct her a geisha so she goes off to school but brings disgrace to herself and therefore they execute her their slave. Upon chance, she meets a kind man who buys her a sweet cherry ice cone. She never forgets him and sees him again by chance some years later. Now she has hope and learns again (in a smash course) how to be a geisha and her unusual name is Sayuri.

The anecdote that unfolds from there has ups and downs but the ending is so racy that of course I cried my head off. The setting is stunning and it made me want to go and visit Japan. The music too is attractive and I hope they do obtain some Oscars next week because it’s a very deserving movie. There is also a titanic performance by an actress called Li Gong who plays ‘Queen Bitch’ Hatsumomo and peek for a exiguous role played by Ted Levine who we normally discover in a amusing role as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer in Monk.

I saw this movie in a local theatre and it was far better than I expected. They are such a spacious couple…. they complete each other and their ‘married’ style of bickering made me laugh a lot. Astonishing fashions, lots of celebrities, and yes, the special pugs that seem to prefer over everything! Definately can’t wait until 08 September for the DVD to be released!

In some peoples eyes Burn Up W is what a apt anime should be, a loud, posthaste paced adventure with lots of astronomical guns, and very well endowed characters. But overall Burn up W is honest trustworthy fun. It’s a feature that doesn’t buy itself too seriously, and so can be watched over and over, without becoming unimaginative. It’s the Japanese equivalent of a high school movie, corpulent of humour, light on station. But who cares, it’s mild exquisite pleasurable in all respects. The DVD narrate and sound are great as is the quality and menu system of the package in general. If you’re a Tenchi or Bebop fan, and you don’t remove yourself too seriously, you’ll luxuriate in this title. Hopefully there will be further DVD episode releases, as the series in its entirety could be actual suitable. Give it a try!

ahhh, the tongue in cheek anime genre, gotta like it aint cha, they manage to spoof everything including themselves. The two main girls, rio and maya, are overly endowned, as most pf the female characters are, but purely for amusing intent, and humerous it is.

techinically, the animation is some of the best you’re likely to perceive from an anime series, the detail is substantial, althogugh it does lack in some areas like minor characters and backgrounds.

The music, is unbiased astronomical, wheras episodes 1 and 2 are laugh out loud comic, the second two are more serious and emotional, what is commendable is that these characters progess believably, and are consistent, its not like they are going for laughs, these are who they are.

why did i give it only 4 stars if i praise it so#? thats a personal peeve as to the fact that its only 4 episodes period, theyran out of budget or something and leave the series on a ambiguous imprint, if only adv would effect up the money for a second outing for the warrior team.

This is quite frankly one of the greatest films I have ever seen. The quality is outstanding, but it’s the reveal that is breathtaking. 5 stories – chosen from hundreds upon hundreds of other stories – of Muslims receiving dreams and/or visions of Jesus coming to them to offer a true relationship with God. Each chronicle is a dramatic reenactment interspersed with interviews of the loyal person, done in the unusual languages with English sub-titles. The most impressive features of these films: 1) The device that these dreams and visions are depicted on film is simply exquisite – realistic and awe-inspiring; 2) The ethnic/geographic diversity of the 5 stories (Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Nigeria) ; 3) These films effectively narrate Muslims as dependable people and not all fanatics – something many Western Christians need to realize; 4) The 5 little sermonettes at the raze of each film by a pastoral figure from that nation. This film is a must examine!

Disc number 3 was the best, in my concept. If you would like to ticket friends with desserts, go with this one. The “Gateau in a Cage” looks so gorgeous, that her fun and edifying teaching style makes you realize that it is not out of your approach to manufacture this heavenly dessert!!

Another delicious aspect contained within this DVD is in allotment her self-effacing, deadpan humor. She doesn’t wretchedness about that she has spilled anything or that something is not releasing itself from the pan unbiased correct. Mistakes and problems happen and she lets you know that it happens to everyone, including herself. That’s the beauty and comfort that is her secret. This is a culinary time capsule. Additionally, Julia makes suggested wine pairings that I’m positive mild absorb up today.

Talking animals is a bigger risk than you might consider – it can easily flop if done poorly, but there are no worries here: the cast of negate actors is righteous. Dustin Hoffman plays a runt horse named Tucker, Whoopi Goldberg is Franny the goat, Jeff Foxworthy is splendid for many laughs as Reggie the rooster, and the list goes on. The farm lies adjacent to a horse track, and Stripes immediately decides he is a accelerate horse – no one tells him he’s a zebra. It unbiased so happens that Nolan is one of the best horse trainers around, but he left all of that leisurely some years earlier when his jockey wife was killed in a racing accident. That doesn’t conclude Channing from wanting to tear, however, and Stripes is positive to some day present himself on the track. He takes a lot of abuse for this – the horses in this film, with one exception, are incredibly arrogant, hateful creatures that constantly produce fun of Stripes. Luckily, though, a pleasing miniature filly named Sandy (Mandy Moore) befriends and encourages him. I should mention the fact that Frankie Muniz supplies the jabber of Stripes – and even Snoop Dogg contributes as the order of Lightning, the world’s laziest dog.

The odds are against Stripes. No zebra has ever raced with horses, and Nolan is adamantly opposed to letting his daughter run at all. That’s where Stripes’ animal friends near in. Even the newest addition to the farm, a Mafioso pelican named Goose (Joe Pantoliano) does his share. The only characters who can give Goose a bustle for his money in terms of comedy are Buzz and Scuzz, two flies featuring the voices of Steve Harvey and David Spade. Wait until you examine them dance and disclose. A number of physical and emotional obstacles stand in the intention of Stripes’ realizing his dream. To succeed, he will have to want it with all of his heart, stand up against ridicule and even physical threat (Sir Trenton is not going to sit collected for a zebra joining in a accelerate his son is supposed to salvage), notice who he is and what he is made of. The only complaint I have is that the talented animal actors who dazzling great carried this film did not gain their names listed in the credits. This always bothers me; every human who had anything to do with these animals gets credited, but the animals themselves are snubbed – it should not be this procedure. The animals gain this movie and they deserve to have their absorb names in lights.

From the launch, when a zebra colt is accidentally abandoned & adopted by a racer-trainer-turned-farmer [Bruce Greenwood, 1ce a sinful intern in -St. Elsewhere-] & his daughter Channing, the tale is a sweet [but, thank the gods, not *quite* saccharine] anecdote of a zebra [named Stripes, of course] who grows up to become a racer, to the chagrin of all the ‘real’, snooty keep-*It*-out-of-*my*-race horses. The CGI are flawless, esp. in the hasten at the ruin [sorry Channing, zebras can't bustle the gruelling chunky course of a accelerate track!] & the loving befriend of all Stripes’ farm buddies believable … in fact, this 1 is *better* than -Babe- due to the improvements of CGI.

As Donald remarked at the extinguish, “Ain’t Macs wunnerful? ” This film also features sweetly-effective Hayden Panettiere as Channing, the perky/pretty/gallant girl who Believes in Stripes. Plus, South Africa makes a *terrific* Kentucky … speaking as a feeble Hoosier who composed loves/remembers the achingly green purity of that more-Southern-than place.

& also “What a *great* change. A exact relief!” For those who hold in the Dream = Winning … & even those who don’t, this is a bag in less than 2 hours.

After Hammer Studio had such success with their versions of Dracula and Frankenstein, it was inevitable they would tackle another one of the classic monsters of Universal’s terror pantheon. By granting Universal the American distribution rights, Hammer was allowed to fabricate their bear shroud versions of the Mummy movies from the 1930s and ’40s (never mind Universal ripped off an Arthur Conan Doyle short myth “The ring of Thoth” in the first position) . Hammer’s 1959 (yes, that’s the Lawful date) film “The Mummy,” directed by Terence Fisher, actually ends up being one of the studio’s best alarm films. Location in 1895, English archaeologists advise the tomb of the Egyptian princess Ananka (Yvonne Furneaux) . When Stephen Banning (Felix Aylmer) enters the tomb, ignoring the warnings of the Egyptian Mehemet (George Pastell), he is driven exasperated. Of course, he has encounter Kharis (Christopher Lee), the living mummy. Three years later, Stephen warns his son John (Peter Cushing) that the mummy is after them, but the warning is ignored. Mehemet arrives reach the asylum and sends the mummy to kill the half-mad Stephen in his padded cell. Following his father’s destroy, John learns the account of Kharis and Ananka, the high priest who loved the princess so noteworthy he tried to bring him wait on from death with the Scroll of Life and was entombed as a living mummy for his sacrilege. When Kharis strikes again, John learns the legends are fair. But then Mehemet orders the mummy to slay John’s wife Isobel, who is the living image of Kharis’ beloved Ananka (because she is also played by Furneaux. At this point, the Mummy refuses to obey and we are well on our design to the requisite tragic ending.

“The Mummy” is one of the better looking Hammer films, thanks to Bernard Robinson’s production designs and Jack Asher’s cinematography, the high point of which is the lengthy Egyptian flashback sequence. Peter Cushing plays John Banning the hero with a sense of heart-broken attributable to not only his crippled leg but sadness over the tragic consequences of their love expedition. George Pastell’s Mehemet is one of the most thoughtful and pious villains you will ever salvage in a anxiety film. As Kharis, Christopher Lee has another tranquil role that forces him to communication his longing for Ananka through his eyes and gestures. Lee’s mummy is grand more muscular and athletic than Karloff’s unique. Man, what a thankless role Lee was stuck with in this one. His mummy makeup is as stiff as a plaster cast, he doesn’t even net to growl, and the only emotion he’s allowed to hiss in this one – do for an extended flashback scene where’s he’s the high priest preparing the Princess for burial – is through the eyes. Of course, Kharis had a forbidden, meddlesome care for for the Princess, which helped run his outraged congregation turning him into Dust-for-Guts, so I guess he had it coming to him. That forbidden like was a suitable thing for archeologist John Banning (Peter Cushing) though, who had the huge splendid sense to marry Princess Ananka look-alike Isobel (Yvonne Furneaux.) If guns, bogs, and spears won’t terminate the Mummy (why didn’t anyone contemplate about a bucket of creosote and a lit match!? Stutter.) a squealed “End!” from Isobel/Ananka seems fairly effective.

THE MUMMY is one of those fun Hammer House films I haven’t watched for a generation or so and delight in rediscovering. Cushing it at the top of his create, and Lee makes the most of his microscopic opportunities to generate sympathy for the monster. The Mummy is one of the hardest of the classic monsters to warm up to. Dracula is heartless but has a frosty charm and more than enough style to own our attention. Frankenstein’s Monster is a pathetic creature in battle with his creator. The Wolfman’s got that wolfbane curse that was a result of an accident totally beyond his control. The Mummy defies his gods by attempting to resurrect the Princess, and spends most movies trying to reunite with her. To their credit, Hammer’s Mummy also has Mehemet Bey, who preys upon the residual guilt of the English for robbing Egypt of her sacred treasures. So this Mummy has a two-track, lost love/revenge theme going. Agreeable fun, THE MUMMY is about as family-safe film as you’ll score. There’s no nudity, extremely minimal gore, and there’s more talk than awe. Spellbinding talk, too, especially the third act guilt-trip Mehemet Bey tries to lay on Banning. Solid recommendation.
